The Battle of Gallipoli was a history changing event that started on the 25th of April 1915 and ended on 9th January 1916. The long 8 months served to be treacherous for both the sides. The Turks who eventually won the gruesome battle after carefully planned strategies overpowering the British and French soldier fighting for the access of the Dardanelles.
The Battle took place on the Peninsula at Gallipoli where the Ottoman Empire (The Turks) were placed on top of the hill, holding the attacking advantage as the British soldiers and it allies which included Australia and New Zealand landed on the beach. The Ottoman Empire was the side that reigned victorious at the end. New Zealand soldiers unknowingly started to create its own identity during World War One. Especially, in the Battle of Gallipoli as it became of significance to New Zealander's due to the fact that these men were able to compare themselves with the men from other nations. The Battle of Gallipoli saw New Zealand men gaining confidence and having a stand of their own. It was the beginning of New Zealand getting to be known as its own nation, instead of being part of the British Colony and next to New Zealand. The involvement of New Zealand soldiers in The Battle of Gallipoli played a vital role of gaining independence to be recognized as a separate country. It’s impact was huge that the aftereffect has continued to give not only the soldiers of New Zealand their own name but the entire society of New Zealand as a whole.

Though it wasn't a genius tactical invasion, we all commemorate the 25th of April every year as ANZAC day. It is a day where we acknowledge those who lost their lives on the particular day and those who fought and are still fighting for the morality of human nature that is still left in this world.
Over time the Battle changed people especially those who went off to fight in the war as it was a traumatizing event that was not expected at all. Nothing could have prepared the soldiers for what they were about to face because it was a chain of misfortune and the only thing to keep them going was the thought of making it out alive. At least one family member from each household had someone who they knew at war or a member of their own. At the end of the battle the result was a loss for the British Empire (which the ANZAC's were part of) but this wasn't considered a loss for those New Zealand soldiers who went off to fight for the first time.
